I started creating these salmon sculptures several years ago and decided that they were a great project for kids to work on annual PTA Auction items. Each student contributes a baggy containing odds and ends that they then adhere to a Salmon figure that I have drawn onto plywood and my husband cuts out for us. after the students are finished, I go through and fill in blank spaces and apply a few coats of varnish. the Salmon sculptures are each amazing in their own right! I also create these sculptures on a commission basis for individual collectors.
This amazing work of art was created with my guidance by the students of Fidalgo Elementary. Nearly 400 young artists had a hand in this 36" x 36" pointillism painting depicting the beautiful Tulip Fields that surround us in the Spring each year. The title of the painting refers to a Dr. Suess quote, "why try to blend in when you were born to stand out". The painting was auctioned off to raise funds that maintained the ARTist in the classroom program at their school.
Each child hand painted and cut out several circles that were combined to create this stunning collage depicting a floral arrangement. The work was auctioned off to support their PTA.
The class found this project on Pinterest. I worked with Mt Erie second graders to create this colorful tissue paper on canvas artwork that was sold at their PTA auction.
Fidalgo Elementary PTA auction
I worked with Patty Johnson's 1st graders to create this amazing vase that sold for $300! The students brought odds and ends from home to decorate the vase.
I worked with Fidalgo Elementary 1st graders to create this amazing American Flag collage that went on to raise $500 for the PTA. Students learned how many stars and stripes were on the flag while having a great artful experience!
I had Fidalgo Elementary students take turns splattering liquid acrylics onto wet watercolor paper to create the amazing color combinations that were later cut into the shapes of the states and mounted on a canvas. It was beautiful!!
This mosaic guitar was the second that I made to donate to the PTA auction. They are truly beautiful and raised close to $1000 each for the PTA. YAY!!
